What is this event?

Rarepair week is a fanweek dedicated to celebrating rarepairs in the Genshin Impact fandom. During the seven days, creators publish their works inspired by the prompts on social media, and we share it on the fanweek account!

How does a fanweek work?

During fanweeks, a series of prompts is provided to inspire creators, who then publish their work on the corresponding day to Twitter or Archive of Our Own.

What content is allowed in the event?

Any kind of creative content (fanart, fanfic, edits, cosplay, etc.) featuring a rarepair (as defined below) is allowed to be published during the event! Please see our rules for specific tagging and posting guidelines.

Is this a ship week?

Primarily, yes, however we also encourage any non-romantic rarepairs as well!

What is a rarepair?

A 'rarepair' is any pairing in a fandom that has little to no content created for it as compared to the majority of shipping content. Rarepairs can include crackships and crossover ships, though for the sake of this event we will not be allowing crossover ships.

What counts as a rarepair?

Due to Genshin Impact's size, it'd be impossible for us to try and measure the popularity of all ships and make exclusions that are comprehensive. For now, the following ships are explicitly not considered rarepairs for the sake of this week:Jean x Lisa
Kaeya x Diluc
Zhongli x Childe
Venti x Xiao
Beidou x Ningguang
Ei x Yae Miko
Ganyu x Keqing
Alhaitham x Cyno
Alhaitham x Kaveh
Cyno x TighnariShips containing the above characters in a polyamorous relationship, however, are allowed and encouraged! (ex. while zhongli x childe by themselves would not be allowed, zhongli/childe/venti would be!)Overall, we encourage you to create content for pairings with little or no content. Even if a ship is not explicitly excluded, if you feel it is popular, then please use your own best judgment!

Who can participate?

Anyone with a Twitter or AO3 account is welcome to participate!

Do I have to submit content for all 7 days?

Nope! You are encouraged to submit as much or as little content as you want!

Are late submissions accepted?

Yes! We will be monitoring the accounts and sharing content for up to two weeks after the event ends to allow everyone a chance to submit their work.

Event Rules

  1. Please tag your submissions with #GIRarepairWeek23 on Twitter and use the additional tag "Genshin Impact Rarepair Week 2023" on AO3! You may also @ the account directly in order to ensure we see your submission!

  2. All NSFW content must be properly tagged with #NSFW and either hosted off-site (poipiku, privatter, AO3, etc.) or censored using Twitter's in-built content flagging features. NSFW content on AO3 must be rated explicit/mature with proper archive warnings and additional tags.

  3. Works containing themes of explicit violence/blood, major character death, and genderbends must all be properly tagged as such.

  4. For the safety of everyone participating in this event and browsing the tag or account, we ask you do not create content containing themes of underage sex, rape/non-con, incest*, or other such dead-dove content for this event.

  5. If you are making an edit/graphic/video that utilizes art created by other artists, please make sure you obtain explicit permission to use their work. We will not share any submissions that contain plagiarism. Using someone else’s work as inspiration is allowed.

  6. Works submitted that break any of these rules will not be promoted on the official account.

* We do not consider ships containing both Kaeya and Diluc to be incestuous as to remain faithful to the original Chinese text.
